As President of SB Capital Management, Richard Singer provides leadership in all aspects of the investment process for Singer Burke’s SEC-registered investment arm. Richard’s years of experience performing fundamental analyses on private investment opportunities enable him to structure non-traditional investment portfolios and offer truly comprehensive wealth management services to clients. He truly enjoys working with creative individuals and helping them to identify and accomplish their goals, financial or otherwise.
Richard began his relationship with Wall Street more than 25 years ago while in Tokyo (of all places!) at Amway Japan, where he assisted the CEO during the company’s initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. Thereafter, Richard spent five years managing strategic investments in the technology sector. As an associate in the division that managed Hikari Tsushin’s $750 million venture capital war chest, Richard led the company’s investments into WebEx, Signal Soft and Colo.com after evaluating hundreds of Silicon Valley ventures. After Signal Soft’s IPO on the New York Stock Exchange, the company hired Richard to start its Japanese subsidiary and lead corporate development and strategic investing throughout Asia. In 2002, Richard returned to Los Angeles and, together with his partners, founded SB Capital Management.
In addition to his work with Singer Burke, Richard teaches financial responsibility to at-risk youth through his volunteer work with Operation Hope. Richard is married to a media executive and they have two sons. When not in the office, Richard enjoys surfing, ski-mountaineering and mountain biking.
